Artwork Handling and Discussion Session with Ceramic Artist Nicholas Lees | Monday 3 April

Artwork handling and discussion session with Abstract Ceramics exhibition artist Nicholas Lees

Date: Monday 3 April
Studio time: 10.00am-11.30am
Gallery time: 12.00pm-12.45pm
Cost: £25

This is an exciting opportunity to spend an inspirational morning with one of our Abstract Ceramics exhibitors during a half-day art handing and discussion workshop.

Participants will have the opportunity actively to ask questions about Nicholas Lees’ practice and to debate contemporary ceramics. The workshop will start in the Chilmark studio where Nicholas Lees will run a discussion and handling session, exploring the ideas behind his work and its development. He will emphasise the relationship between material, process, and concept which is central to his approach of ‘thinking through making’ and developing ideas through practical exploration and experimentation. He will bring a range of ceramic works as well as works in process and experiments to initiate discussion of material qualities and the relationship of object to concept. This will be followed by a visit to the Abstract Ceramics exhibition and further discussion of the artworks included.

Nicholas Lees is a visiting lecturer on postgraduate courses at the RCA, UCA Farnham, and Bath Spa University. He works from a studio in Selborne, Hampshire. He is an award winning artist whose work has been exhibited widely in the UK and overseas and is held in private and public collections including York City Art Gallery, Westerwald Keramikmuseum in Germany, and Royal Caribbean International.
