Set in two venues in the heart of the Wiltshire countryside, Messums Creative offers courses across the creative disciples for all ages and experience.

This venture in which artists of all are welcome to practice, learn, develop ideas and thrive, sets out to present and explore making as the essential element of creative language.

Our tutors offer regular weekly classes to develop and learn new skills supported by one-off courses influenced by our Messums Wiltshire programming run by guest tutors and our gallery artists.

Mirka Golden – Hann is a ceramic artist and teacher with over 20 years’ experience of running a pottery studio. After graduating from the University of Westminster, Harrow Ceramics in 1999 she set up her first workshop and built a salt-kiln.

After gaining her MA Ceramics at Bath Spa in 2009 she became Resident Artist at Salisbury Arts Centre (Wiltshire Creative) where she runs a busy teaching pottery and visual arts programme. Mirka has been involved with Messums Creative from the beginning and she oversees the programming for the studio.

Andy Glass completed his degree in Ceramics in 1996 at the University of Derby. After university he worked as a production thrower for several years and consequently in the early 00’s developed his ceramic practice through a series of Artistic Residencies at Cranleigh Arts Centre in Surrey, South Hill Park Arts Centre, and Wysning Arts Centre. His career includes a wide teaching portfolio as well as kiln and pottery equipment engineering. Andy has decided to step away from his engineering job in order to concentrate on returning to developing his own creative voice.

Bridget Timoney has been a practicing potter for ten years. She studied ceramics at Limerick School of Art and Design. She trained under Gus Mableson at the prestigious Thomastown Skills Course and completed an Adopt a Potter apprenticeship with Julie Ayton.

Recently Bridget completed her traineeship as Mirka Golden-Hann’s Visual Arts and Pottery Assistant at Salisbury Arts Centre where she gained an in-depth insight into teaching pottery classes to all ages as well as running a community pottery.
