“Whether the re-use of an old building that might once have been earmarked for demolition, re-cycling what might once have been disposed of, or the adoption of new and alternative materials. How we choose to build is the footprint of our carbon use”

Our 2022 symposium will celebrate the latest innovation and evolution in construction and design through a series of talks and presentations by leading architects and experts in the field. Examining changing practices with current examples of creativity, and ideas of what might be possible, they will ponder available opportunities as we continue to strive for a more holistic way of living on one planet.

The day will be split into two parts, with the morning session focusing on sustainable architecture practices through re-use and re-cycling. There will be particular emphasis on buildings with educational facilities.

The afternoon session will consider the amazing opportunities presented by new materials and technologies within the construction industry.

Against the setting of the largest thatched building in the country, we will explore the re-use of an old building that might once have been earmarked for demolition, re- cycling what might once have been disposed of, or the adoption of new and alternative materials, how we choose to build is the footprint of our carbon use.

Who would have thought, for example, it might be possible to organically grow building materials?
