Joanna Still

Joanna Still was born and raised in Wiltshire. She was a student at Harrow School of Art in the mid 1970’s and on graduating set up her first studio, initially producing a range of domestic wares.

Benefiting from artist residencies as well as research and exploration projects overseas, Still has developed and greatly diversified her work since the start of her career.

The current range of unglazed vessels reflect her continued interest in the material and the elemental characteristics of the firing process.
The physical immediacy of working with clay, complemented by the ‘smoke firing’, creates surfaces of texture and an illusion of depth and space. These qualities allow Still an imaginative exploration of landscape within the form of a vessel.
