Zoe uses the ancient art of dying with plants to create sumptuous colours. Flowers, leaves, bark and roots are gathered sustainably on the hills where she lives or they are grown and harvested in her garden.
Extracting the dye involves steaming vats and earthy smells. Every hank of wool is dyed by Zoe. This lengthy process produces gorgeous one-off colours. They complement her beautiful woven designs, which are all woven by her, inspired by the ever changing seasons of Argyll, where she is based. Each piece is unique.
Messum’s Wiltshire is a pioneering multi-purpose gallery and arts centre celebrating the creative endeavour.
