TALK: Author & Artist Alexander Newley ‘Unaccompanied Minor’
Wednesday 6 December, 6:30pm, £10 in advance, £15 on the door Bookings
Following his appearance earlier in the day on Good Morning Britain, author and artist Alexander Newley joins us at the gallery for a reading from his new autobiography ‘Unaccompanied Minor’. The reading will be followed by a Q&A hosted by journalist Chloe Fox. As serialised in The Daily Mail and in The Times, Alexander’s childhood was a dysfunctional one, as many can relate to, but played out almost entirely in the public eye.
Born with a famous name to an unhappy marriage, Alexander Newley is the son of the Hollywood stars Joan Collins and Anthony Newley. Their life was one of almost unparalleled privilege, glamour and celebrity, second only to Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, but under the glossy veneer there was trouble: infidelity, insecurity and emotional trauma. His childhood was nomadic and dysfunctional as he watched the disintegration of his parents’ marriage and yet he tells his true story with great humour and compassion, whilst also portraiting London and Hollywood’s golden age during the swinging sixties and the seventies.
Signed copies of Alexander’s new memoir, illustrated throughout with images of his paintings, will be available on the night.
