Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 August (two-day course)
9:30am – 5pm (includes lunch)
Tutor: Polly Cazalet
This two-day course with Polly Cazalet is ideal for those who would like to start learning or to improve their wheel-work skills. This course will provide you with the ideal opportunity to try or practice cylindrical and bowl shapes as well as practice our turning and handle making skills.
Polly began working in clay in her early 20s inspired by the traditional potters she encountered while travelling in Asia, Africa and the Middle East with a documentary television company. Her love of ceramics developed further during this time under the guidance of inspiring teachers including Richard Phethean, Joanna Howells, Mirka Golden-Hann and Akiko Hirai. Ten years ago Polly moved from London to Dorset, where she set up a home studio and began to explore working with porcelain.
The cost of biscuit firing the selection of your best work is included in the price of the course. The teacher will help you decide what your best work is and what the allowed quantity is. This will generally fill kiln size of (35x35x35)cm. Extra work can be fired at an additional cost.
We recommend that you book a glaze session to glaze your work or you can request us to glaze the pots for you in one of our studio glazes. Small studio fee will apply.
If you wish to collect your biscuit fired work, you can do this three weeks after the course.
We will store your work for up to six months. If you would like us to post the work to you, please let us know and we will arrange this at extra cost.
