This artist/tutor led course is intended for the more experienced artist who would like to challenge themselves in order to expand their drawing and observational skills.
This November using the context of Daniel Agdag’s exhibition and the landscape view from the gallery, this class will concentrate on making drawings that combine detailed figuration, still life and abstract compositions.
These sessions aim to develop the skill of transposing from direct observation. This skill will be used to define different approaches to drawing including tracing from life, diagrammatical drawing and abstract mark making.
With reference to art history, we will think about mark making, depth as a 2-dimensional shape, adapting the subject to suit the page and decisions about what to leave out to create meaningful compositions that more clearly convey the artist’s intentions.
