SOLD OUT | Beginners – Potter’s Wheel | 15 April

Date: 15 April

Times: 10.00 – 12.30 and 14.00 – 16.30

Tutor: Edward Scott

Age recommendation: Beginners’ throwing course is intended for adults as well as families with children aged 10+

This is a short taster workshop ideal for those who have always longed to have a go.  This course will provide you with the ideal opportunity to try out the potter’s wheel, to have fun making your first masterpiece and to see if you too will ‘get the bug’.  This course will concentrate just on throwing. The shapes you will be learning will be small flat bottom bowls and cylindrical forms.

Materials explained: Clay will be provided as part of the course. There is no extra charge if you wish to take home your unfired pieces (up to four). If you would like us to fire your work for you to have as a forever keepsake or to use in order to learn later about how to glaze, please add into your basket the biscuit firing option. At Messums Creative we embrace sustainable creative learning practice and our system is designed to enable our students to make the best choice for them.

Bring: apron, pencil, notebook. Please wear closed-toe shoes.

AM session £65 per person

PM session £65 per person SOLD OUT

Biscuit firing from ½ day: £18 per person to fire up to four pieces

Biscuit fired work will be ready to collect from the studio week commencing 8 May 2023

If you are undecided whether you would like to fire your work you can make your mind up on the day.

Please note: biscuit firing is the first firing after which clay turns into hard ceramic material. Glaze firing is an additional process and is not included in this course, but you can enquire about glazing possibilities in the studio.
