31 OCTOBER | THROWING DAY WITH JO TAYLOR | ADULTS

Throwing Day

Date: Sunday 31 October

Tutor: Jo Taylor

In this workshop concentrating on making pots for domestic use Jo would like to introduce pottery work to complete beginners or offer an opportunity for more advanced students to expand their existing skills. In this session you will have the chance to throw forms such as bowls, platters, and beakers and immediately apply slip decoration by brushing, banding and trailing whilst still on the wheel.

Recognised for her sculptural forms that combine different techniques including throwing and hand building, Jo Taylor has been making her unique ceramic work since graduating from Bath Spa University’s Master’s Degree in 2012. She is a qualified teacher, and has been delivering a range of regular courses and workshops since 2005.

Materials:

The cost of biscuit firing the selection of your best work is included in the price of the course. The teacher will help you decide what your best work is and what the allowed quantity is. This will generally fill kiln space of (35x35x35)cm or one large piece. Extra work can be fired at additional cost.

We recommend that you book a glaze session to glaze your work.

If you wish to collect your biscuit fired work, you can do this three weeks after the course.

You can request us to glaze your work for you in one of our glazes. A small studio fee will apply.

We will store your work for up to six months. If you would like us to post the work to you, please let us know and we will arrange this at extra cost.

This course is intended for adults but might be attended by students aged 16+ providing that they come together with an adult who is also a member of the class
