CLAY COURSE: Introduction to Clay Sculpture (adults)

Messums Creative

Thursday 26 August
10am – 5pm (lunch included)

Tutor: Finn Bush

In this workshop you can explore the basis of sculpting in clay and develop your skill during the day. Clay differs from classic sculpture because of the considerations of firing in the kiln. Using an ancient Egyptian form of sculpture known as the ointment jar or cosmetics jar we will create a fusion of vessel and sculpture. The humour, charm and dignity of this ancient Egyptian style gives ample opportunity to touch upon figurative, stylistic, abstract, and technical questions and create a sculpture with a purpose.
