This is an introduction to sculpting the human form in clay. In this course tutor Finn Bush will help you to create studies and maquettes of the human form capturing posture, movement and charisma of a personality.
On the occasion of Messums London first contemporary photography exhibition 'Resonances', visual artists Nii Obodai and Justin Keene will be in conversation with Stephanie Blomkamp, founder of Oath magazine, on the visibility, circulation and championing of African photography today.

Sculpting improvised forms related to branch, leaf, creature and our entanglement with the depths of the forest. In this course you can make forms such as vase, bowl, container or just a wonderful sculpted and dramatic reflection on structure which might remind you of the mystery of nature and growth.
Lettering on ceramics using Versals. In this course you will examine letter formation, letter weight and spacing.
A session for pre-school children and their adults.
In this session our inspiration comes from the wonders of Springtime. Come and join us in some messy fun to create a birds nest with eggs and possibly even some nesting birds or hatchlings.

Influenced by the illusions evoked by Greg Payce’s ceramics which employ optical illusions, tutor Finn Bush will guide you to create slab built figurative forms. Inspired by the spaces in between objects, you will be encouraged to form an image of the human shape.
In this two day demonstration course you will have the chance to gain an insight into the processes associated with slip casting. The course will cover mold-making process as well as slip casting bone china and many different surface decorating methods.
We are delighted to host a special birthday supper event here at Messums Wiltshire for sculptor and friend Bridget McCrum.
Bridget will introduce us to some of the new pieces she has been working on followed by supper created by our team at The Mess Restaurant. Bridget is one of the most preeminent sculptors working in the UK today.
During this workshop you can come to apply stains, oxides or glaze to your sculptures with Finn – workshop for glazing sculpture made in March and April.
