EVENT: Fashion Catwalk Show & Party
Friday 26 April, from 7pm, Bookings
FASHION is the accepted endpoint of Textile – often its intended destination – and the culmination of our exhibition Material: Textile will be Textile in Motion, a catwalk fashion show down the full length of our thirteenth century barn, a celebration of fashion as art.
Collections by British womenswear designer Joshua Millard, Danish mens and womenswear designer Henrik Vibskov and Bright Young Thing Sadie Williams.
A VIP ticket to the catwalk show includes complimentary drinks and food before and after the show until 10pm also exclusive access to the green room. VIP guests are guaranteed reserved front row seats. Alternatively a general admission ticket includes a reserved seat at the fashion show no more than two rows back from the action.
Join us from 7pm for an asado, a traditional South American live fire barbeque in the sculpture gardens. There will be a drinks bar open and a wet weather alternative if needed! We are delighted to invite everybody to come along to our afterparty from 9pm, a chance to mingle with the designers and cast of the show, featuring tunes supplied by DJ’s Aksel Schaufler (AKA Superpitcher) and Nick AC (Shaftesbury).
Headlining the show will be the AW19 collection of mens and womenswear by Danish fashion designer Henrik Vibskov. A graduate of Central St Martins back in 2001, Henrik returned to Denmark where he opened a fashion label under his own name. His work has been shown in publications such as The Face, Brutus, Dazed & Confused, i-D and Wallpaper and he regularly shows at Paris Fashion Week. Henrik’s AW19 collection reflects both the romantic idea of nature and how we interact with it, the clash between wanting to maintain nature pure as it is and the need to interfere with it. Voluminous silhouettes with details of binding layers together and prints and embroidery which remind of flowers, fruit, vegetables and endless fields.
Also on view will be the AW19 collection of designer Joshua Millard. Joshua established his London-based womenswear brand in 2016. After graduating from London College of Fashion in Bespoke Tailoring, he gained experience at Jonathan Saunders and on Savile Row. He designs a transitional wardrobe of longevity, born from his clients desire to seek tailoring and outerwear that suggest something new, lasting beyond fast trends. The relaxed aesthetic balances elegant cuts with playful accents of texture and layering. “Conscious in all that we do, we work with independent makers and mills who share the same regard for ethical production and traceability”. The brand places great emphasis on the quality of fabric, the majority of the collection consist of natural fibres which respect the environment and animal welfare.
Our third designer is London born Sadie Williams who creates innovative, textile driven fashion. Juxtaposing modernity with applied craftsmanship. Since earning a Distinction from her Masters degree on the Central Saint Martins Fashion Course, she has become recognised for her distinctive style and aesthetic, capitalising on her strengths in print & textile design. Showing bi-annually on the London Fashion Week schedule, her collections have been highlights as part of Selfridges ‘Bright Young Things’ included in Vogue Festival 2016 and ‘Designs of the Year 2014’ exhibition at The Design Museum.
The show forms part of the Material: Textile exhibition and will kick-off our Common Threads weekend devoted to future fabrics and sustainability as well as the ancient techniques of weaving, craft, knitting and embroidery and how contemporary artists continue to use them.
